Theatre for Solidarity: “From Eden” Comes to Bandon for Gaza

As part of the vital West Cork for Gaza Weekend, Bandon Town Hall is proud to host a Kilmeen Drama Group for a special performance of the critically acclaimed Irish play, “From Eden” by Stephen Jones, on Saturday, November 29th at 8pm.
Tickets: €10 at the door.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the Bandon community to support a crucial humanitarian cause while enjoying a piece of sharp, witty, and moving contemporary theatre.
About the Play: “From Eden”
“From Eden” is a compact, two-hander play that has been lauded by critics for its tender script and realistic dialogue. The setting is simple but evocative: a dilapidated bathroom at a New Year’s Eve party. This is where two strangers, Alan and Eva, find themselves locked together while the raucous celebrations continue outside.
Alan is shy and reserved, while Eva is his seemingly more fiery and outspoken opposite. As the night wears on and their initial awkwardness melts away, they begin to confess glimpses of their past and the inner conflicts that led them to seek refuge away from the forced gaiety of the party.
The play is much more than a simple “opposites attract” story. It is a deeply honest exploration of loneliness, isolation, and the desperate human need for genuine connection. Named after the biblical location, the bathroom itself becomes a strange, temporary “Eden”—a safe, liminal space where two “lost souls” can be brutally honest, finding a sliver of hope and mutual understanding before they must face the outside world again. The comedy and tenderness of their crackling interchange make for a truly captivating piece of drama.
